Location: Washington, DC

Yesterday,Congressman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) and Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.) met with Bob Stallman, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation, and Charlie Kruse, President of the Missouri Farm Bureau Federation, to receive Farm Bureaus' endorsement of H.J. Res. 76, a bipartisan joint resolution introduced by Congressman Skelton that would prevent EPA from implementing greenhouse gas regulations.
"The EPA's proposed regulations on greenhouse gases would be very costly to farms, families, and small businesses across Missouri and the nation. Farm Bureau members understand this, which is why my bipartisan legislation is a top priority for them. I am pleased to have Farm Bureau's support in my bipartisan effort to rein in the EPA," said Skelton.

Currently, the bipartisan Joint Resolution, which is identical to legislation introduced by Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), has 31 cosponsors and has been endorsed by over 175 small business and agriculture organizations throughout the nation.

In a recent letter to all U.S. Representatives from Missouri, Missouri Farm Bureau Federation President Charlie Kruse stated:

"Congress must put the brakes on EPA's greenhouse gas agenda and Farm Bureau believes the Resolutions of Disapproval introduced by Senator Lisa Murkowski and Congressman Ike Skelton represent the only realistic opportunity to do so anytime soon."

H.J. Res. 76 was introduced by U.S. Representatives Ike Skelton (D-Mo.), Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.), and Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) on February 25, 2010.
